REMEMBER THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO AY TAX'S ON THE 30,000 DOLLARS, STATE AND FEDERAL IT IS CONSIDERED INCOME TO YOU AND A WRITE OFF TO HIM, I WOULD DEFINATLY CALL IT A PROPERTY SETTLEMENT AND HAVE IT WORDED AS SUCH IN A LEGAL DOCUMENT, INSTEAD OF MAINTENANCE OR ALIMONY, THIS WAY YO WONT HAVE TO PAY AS MUCH TAX'S IF ANY. ALSO I WOULD CAREFULLY CONSIDER ACCEPTING A LOW AMOUNT, OF 30,000 IF I WERE YOU I WOULD CONTACT A ATTORNEY AND A TAX ADVISOR TO SEE WHAT YOU ARE ENTITLED TO BEFORE MAKING A DECESION. GOOD LUCK.
